Welcome to Snitkerimages Nature Photography, where we showcase breathtaking wildlife and landscape photography that reveals the beauty and complexity of nature in stunning detail. Explore our collection and immerse yourself.
My Portfolio
I have been taking photographs from that day 50+ years ago when my high school chemistry instructor handed me a camera and asked if I wanted to be a photographer with our yearbook staff. Several years later my wife bought me a 35mm Yashica camera and a 135mm lens - and the journey began.

Backyard Birds
I have been fortunate enough to have lived in several rural states where there has been a wide variety of birds frequenting my back yard. This collection showcases a number of those visitors.

Large Birds
A number of birds in this collection are relatively common, but aren't usually found hanging around our back yards. Some are migratory birds where others are not. Many of these shots required a significant amount of hiking on my part to obtain.

Unusual & Exotic Birds
Bird photography can be unusually challenging due to their shyness and their speed in flight. A few of these images were taken during my travels but many were in my backyard.

Deer
This grouping contains images I have taken over the years of both whitetail and mule deer. Many were taken in and around Larkspur, Colorado when Iived there from 2006 to 2021. The remainder were taken on my travels and while I lived in Michigan.

Fawns
There are few things more beautiful, and more fun to watch, than fawns at play. Here are loads of fawn images as they are my favorite subject to photograph.

Elk
Elk are some of my favorite photographic subjects. They live and travel in herds, ranging from small groups of several hundred animals to very large groups containing a thousand or more elk. In 2025 my wife and I moved to Loveland, Colorado, and little did we know that there are several small herds which move through the immediate area where we live. In just a few months I have captured more pictures of elk than I had ever captured to-date.

Moose
My wife and I love everything about moose. We have pictures, figurines, and other small decorator items which feature moose. Now that we live in Colorado again, but this time in northern Colorado, I am hoping the number of moose images I will be posting to this site will increase dramatically.

Bison
Most of my bison images were captured during my time visiting Yellowstone National Park. The wide open spaces, the lush landscape, the geothermal, features, and of course the wildlife fascinate me. Chief among these attractions are the bison. Sometimes hard to find because of the size of Yellowstone's land mass, while other times plodding down the road you are on.

Bears
Bears are by nature non-aggressive creatures, but when protecting their young or when cornered in the wild they can be dangerous. I love photographing bear because they can behave unpredictably and often sport such adorable expressions.

Lions: Bobcats: Cougars
This grouping contains images of cougars, bobcats, fox, and lions taken in a number of locations. Some are of captive animals while others were taken in nature.

Aquatic Animals
One of the few trips I have made east of the Mississippi was to Florida. While I didn't make it to Everglades National Park, I did see some of the aquatic animals that call this area home.

Other Wildlife
Wildlife have always fascinated me, with their beauty and grace. Each species has its own unique characteristics - I can only marvel at God's creativity when he made each one. Whether I am photographing elk, bobcats, foxes, or my dog, I find the experience so rewarding. If I could live my life over I would find some way to make photography my life's work.

National Parks
The Earth is a magical space with surprises around every corner. From the deserts in California, Nevada, and Arizona, to the waters of the Great Lakes and Florida there is beauty to behold. We need just take the time to enjoy the spectacle. You find skies with colors beyond belief and mountains of purple majesty. From the gurgle of a small creek to the roar of the winds as they rush through a canyon we hear something greater than ourselves.

State Parks
We have what seems to be an infinite number of State Parks, each offering the opportunity to examine the local scenery and wildlife. These images were taken at various state parks - mostly in the western states.

Canada
In 2004, I took a trip into the Canadian west. Starting in Whitefish, Montana I headed north into Glacier National Park and Waterton Lakes National Park. But instead of stopping there, I continued north into the Canadian Province of Alberta. While there, I stopped in Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper before turning west into British Columbia. Images take during this trip are included here.

Miscellaneous Scenery
This collection of images were gathered during travels within the United State and abroad during a trip to Australia and New Zealand.
